Daniel Radcliffe
Interviews 1 & 2

CNN's interview with Daniel

CNN: I read that your parents were hesitant for you to take the part becuase they knew the role would change your life. Is that true?

Daniel: They only had one concern and that is when I go up for a part, I have a tendency to get my hopes upwhich I really shouldn't do. I had done it with "David Copperfield" and "The Tailor of Panama", and "Harry Potter"-they knew so many boys were gonna be up for the role so they didn't want me to get my hopes up and then be really disappointed.

CNN: What about the day you found that you got the part?

Daniel: I cried...I was so happy...It was unbelievable. I think one of the reasons I actually cried was because with this-I'd seen films like "Dead Poets Society"-when I watch films like that, I become very inspired. With this part I've been given a fantastic opprtunity to be able to inspire
people and I think that's one of the things that made me cry.

CNN: So you take this seriously?

Daniel: I think I've gotta take it slightly seriously but at the same time, it's just good fun.

CNN: But the role could really make you a star, people will know your name. Are you ready for that?

Daniel: Cool(smiles).

CNN: Is there pressure(because there are some high expectations for the film)?

Daniel: I don't think so. I don't really mind that much about how much money the film makes, I just want people to enjoy it and the people who do go to see it-I really want them to enjoy it,I think that's what I want.

CNN: Are you worried about "Lord of the Rings"(opening December 19)? That's your direct competition, don't you think?

Daniel: I think it's really, really silly the way the press has kind of built up a rivalry between two films,'cause really the only likeness is they've both got wizards in 'em.
Some of the films this summer weren't as good as I thought.
I thought they were gonna be fantastic. That's my most awaited film, besides "Ocean's Eleven".

CNN: There's a doll that looks like you. What do you think about that?

Daniel: I actually feel really privileged because how many boys my age get to have an action figure,it's not really of me-it's Harry a character which they're playing. It's really
great.

2002 Nickelodeon Magazine Interview

I changed this interview to this page because I was running out of space. It's the same thing as the one on the 'Interview 2' page.

Do you think you look like Harry Potter?
Without my glasses, I don't think so. But with my glasses, I suppose I do quite.

Do you wear glasses normally?
I'm suppose to, but I don't. I break them. I lost half a tooth on my first pair. I chewed the end of my glasses so much that half of my tooth came off.

What would you change to make your school more like Hogwarts?
I'd change the subjects to magical subjects. And there are a lot of paintings in my school so I would want them all to talk.

Are you an athlete like Harry?
In gymnastica I'm quite good, but I'm not as good as my stunt doubles were. I'm good at running and I'm good at athletics.

Would you be a good Quidditch player?
I'd probably be okay. I'd enjoy whacking those balls towards people. By the way, when I said that I was good at athletics, I didn't mean to boast.

What kind of candy did they make for the movie?
The Every Flavor Beans were great because they really did taste of all different flavors. And the Cauldron Cakes - they were made of marzipan with sprinkles on them. When I took a bite I got really bad indigestion.
